How It Works
Three steps. No sommelier required.
01 · Scan
Photograph the list
Any wine list, any format. Palate reads it instantly — no typing, no searching by name.
02 · Tell it your table
What's for dinner?
Add the dishes you're ordering. Palate weighs every bottle against what's actually on the table.
03 · Choose confidently
Your top matches, ranked
Get a short, varied set of picks — priced across the list, not just the priciest bottle on it.
Built for the table
Recommendations that actually know you.
Your palate
A short quiz, once. Tell Palate what you already love and what you avoid. Every scan after that is scored against your taste, not a generic "critic's pick."
Real variety
Top picks that don't repeat themselves. Palate spreads recommendations across price and style, so you're not just handed three versions of the same bottle.
Your history
It remembers what you've had. Wines you've already tried and rated get flagged automatically, so you always know what's new.
Worth the splurge
An honest nudge, not upselling. When a pricier bottle is a genuinely better match, Palate says so. When it isn't, it won't pretend otherwise.
- Guests order with confidence. A clear, personal recommendation beats scanning a list they don't understand.
- You control what's promoted. Preload your list once — Palate never suggests wines you don't carry.
- No hardware, no menus to reprint. Works with the list you already have.
- See what guests actually want. Anonymized insight into what's resonating on your list.
Questions
Before you download.
Is Palate free?
Yes — Palate is free to download and use. Scan wine lists and get recommendations at no cost.
Does it work at any restaurant?
Palate can scan and read most printed wine lists on the spot. Select restaurants are also preloaded in the app for even faster, more precise recommendations — that list is growing.
How does Palate know what I'll like?
A short one-time quiz builds your palate profile — the styles you gravitate toward, what you avoid, and how you like to spend. Every scan is scored against that, and against what you're eating.
Is my data private?
Your palate profile and scan history are yours. We don't sell personal data, and restaurant-facing insights are shared only in aggregate, never tied to an individual guest.
Is Palate available on Android?
Palate is currently iPhone-only. Android is on the roadmap.
